Minimize Vehicle Slipping With Salt, Sand, Or Kitty Litter

Roads and driveways get icy during the winter, and sometimes you need to put substances on their surfaces to prevent your vehicle from slipping. The main substances to use for that are salt, sand and kitty litter. But you should know that each has a specific use.

What Each Substance Does
  • Salt: This is the most heavily used substance on slippery roads, and you can use it on your driveway or doorstep to melt ice. But be aware it can be corrosive and harmful to grass and plants.
  • Sand: One of the most practical alternatives to salt that can be dirty, but it won't harm plants or cause rust on your vehicle.
  • Kitty Litter: Never use to cover your driveway, but it can be used to get your car unstuck if you put it under the wheels for short distances.
