Winter brings its own unique driving challenges to everyone in Caldwell, ID. Driving on icy roads is one of them. Team Mazda wants you to be safe when driving on ice. Here are important things to know about correcting a slide.

The temptation when your car hits a patch of ice is to press the brakes. This is the worst thing you can do. You should never fully apply the brakes when your car is sliding. If you have a rear-wheel drive vehicle, light tapping of the brakes may help some. Even so, resist the urge to fully brake.

The one thing you should never do is panic. Gently steer your vehicle in the direction of the slide and remove your foot from the accelerator. Your chances of righting the car without having an accident will be much improved.
